Hello all, Our apologies for the extended radio silence, but that was necessary due to operational security concerns regarding our redeployment. As you surely know by now, we have made it safely home, and are enjoying catching up with friends and family. We can't thank you enough for your continued support during this deployment. 'To the Last Man'! |

As you all know, exact dates and times of our return to Minnesota are classified, so we cannot post specific information here. However, there are two important pieces of information we would like to ensure you are aware of.
First, the Battalion has been approved to re-deploy through Ft. McCoy, WI. It is important to point out that no families will be allowed on post, nor will soldiers be allowed off post, so please do not come to Ft. McCoy during our demobilization. It is important that the unit complete demobilization tasks as accurately and expeditiously as possible, so that we can all return home to our families as soon as possible.
Each unit will return to its respective home station armory upon demobilization at Ft. McCoy. Once your soldier has made it to Wisconsin, they will be able to better communicate dates and times with you. We fully understand the burden some of this uncertainty places on our family and friends, but we must ask for your flexibility so that we can keep our soldiers safe.
We appreciate your patience as we complete these last few steps of the deployment, and your help with the above issues is critical to a smooth and successful transition home! |

As many of you already know, the organization "Serving Our Troops" grilled some delicious steaks for Task Force Bayonet this past Sunday, and simultaneously hosted an event for our families at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, MN. These events were linked via video-teleconference, and many of our soldiers were able to see their families using these connections.
There are several great stories in the news about these events. (copy and paste the address into your brower if the links aren't working) http://kaaltv.com/article/stories/S462692.shtml?cat=10151&v=1 http://www.kttc.com/global/story.asp?s=8408447 http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=512210 http://www.keyc.tv/article/view/142206/ http://wcco.com/local/soldiers.steak.dinner.2.737996.html With every day that passes, we are getting closer to home, and this fantastic event just made us feel that much closer to home. We can't thank "Serving Our Troops" enough for their generosity and compassion. This exemplifies what makes Minnesota great--good people doing good things. |
